Love what you do – we make employment happen!
Millions of job seekers and thousands of companies use JobCloud, a Swiss market leader in recruitment, to find each other every day. Partner Products has one mission: bring the best-fit AI capabilities into our Recruiting Process Platform products by working with the companies that build them, instead of building everything ourselves. We evaluate and integrate partner technology and offer it under the JobCloud brand, owning product engineering from first integration to a commercial feature in production. You will help decide where partnering beats building, and shape the team's roadmap, architecture and hiring, working with Product Management, Platform and Security.
We love what we do! We work like one team, are experts in our field, and keep our culture inclusive and respectful, thriving on openness and collaboration—we raise the bar to build a world-class recruitment experience.
Still read architecture diagrams, but no longer need your name on every pull request? Know when to coach, when to challenge and when to get out of the way? Come and join our great team, build trust, ship great products, and don't be afraid of engineers who know more than you.
This is us: You've surely heard of jobs.ch. This is just one of the many brands owned by JobCloud. We are the leading player in Switzerland’s online job market and want to make job search and recruitment as easy as possible. Love what you do – we make employment happen!
By the way: We don't care about your skin colour, your gender identity or your beliefs... Come as you are, you are just good.
YOUR TASKS
- Lead an engineering team distributed across locations, building high-quality products that improve customer experience. Lead by example, keep the team healthy, hire top talent, and stay aligned with business goals.
- Foster performance & growth within your team, share timely actionable feedback, identify individual strengths and weaknesses, coach engineers to be better, support ambitious career goals through individual growth plans, and support weak performers to overcome shortcomings.
- Create a safe environment where engineers can challenge each other, raise concerns, are keen to experiment and take ownership of either outcome. We use open feedback as a tool for shared growth.
- Build a central knowledge base that turns institutional know-how into actionable playbooks and step-by-step contingency plans, so onboarding is fast; people can move between teams, and no one is a single point of failure.
- Partner with product management to balance new features and capabilities against non-functional investment such as reliability, security, operational hygiene and maintainability, while keeping the cost of building and running our services in check.
- Have a bias for execution and translate priorities into realistic delivery plans, making capacity, dependencies and uncertainty explicit. You keep track of commitments, communicate risks honestly, and renegotiate early when delivery is at risk. Manage dependencies with other engineering teams and represent the team's commitments and constraints credibly.
- Adopt AI-assisted engineering and improve how the team works with AI assistants and coding agents, adjusting where they deliver demonstrable value while keeping a human in the accountable loop.
- Possess end-to-end ownership, ensuring the team runs what it builds, with clear service ownership, production verification, monitoring and tested recovery options. You run blameless postmortems, drive follow-up actions, and turn recurring problems into structural improvements.
- Drive technical excellence by reviewing technical approaches and challenging designs and estimates while relying on the expertise of technical leadership (Staff engineers, etc.). Uphold shared engineering standards and adapt them to the team’s context.
- Effectively Communicate early and clearly, in writing and in person, report bad news promptly, share difficult feedback directly and with kindness, and reach clear agreements across teams.
YOUR SKILLS
- You have several years of experience leading an engineering team in a fast-paced product-driven innovative environment.
- You think about customer experience, developing people, building a team, and performance management in one go.
- You communicate crisply in English, build narratives effortlessly, possess story-telling skills, and hold complex audience-adjusted conversations.
- You have a solid grasp of system design, cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven architecture servicing millions of users.
- You were once an engineer who built reliable and scalable systems. You have experience leading the SDLC end-to-end from idea to execution to delivery and then owning the post-launch experience.
- You hold a data-driven mindset, understand your key metrics, and actively use them to make quantifiable decisions and when data isn’t available, you are fond of establishing baselines.
We’d prefer if you have this:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Mathematics, or comparable disciplines.
- You have a track record of transforming your team into an agentic AI-native team, have been through learnings and are comfortable replicating them.
- Experience with production search, relevance or matching systems, including indexing, retrieval and ranking.
- Experience integrating semantic search or recommendation capabilities and evaluating their impact through relevance measures and user experiments.
- Familiarity with technical SEO or discoverability through AI search and answer engines is a plus, but can be developed on the job.
We have a modern cloud-native tech stack at JobCloud, check out our Tech Stack.
